Manual Vs Thermostatic
Manual valves work like a tap, so you directly control how much water flows into the radiator, however they are not affected by room temperature so the radiator will maintain a constant temperature which may lead changes in the temperature of the room which will then require a manual adjustment to the valve. They are smaller than thermostatic valves and ideal for towel radiators.
Thermostatic Valves are larger than manual valves, but are affected by room temperature and as such will make adjustments to ensure the room is kept at a constant heat. They also are more energy efficient than manual valves.
Straight Vs Angled
As a general rule of thumb all radiators that have the connections at the side will need angled valves. Radiators with connections on the bottom will need angled valves if the pipe runs from the wall and straight if the pipes are coming directly from the floor.
